Good day! It’s that time again – the summer Olympic games. Here at Search Engine Academy, we are all over the United States, Canada, Europe and the Middle East. We’re online looking for fast results to see how our countries are faring.
Every time we have an Olympiad now, the demand for real time results is loud and crushing. Whether you’re rooting for your soccer team, sailing crew, favorite fencer or distance runner, you want to know the team or the athlete is up to.
With that in mind, I first checked into NBC’s Olympic site. What a disappointment and disaster. They had text links that made me believe I would be taken directly to results for medals; instead, I was pushed to pages that had nothing to do with who won what medal in which sport. Big, fat, #FAIL.
So, I went to Google, and lo and behold, it’s what I should have done in the first place! The SERPs are fantastic. I typed in the keyword “Olympics” and look what I got:
Hot hokie puppy poop…look at that…medal counts…countries…the schedule…the works.
Say what you will about Google, but they’re doing it right. I then typed in “olympics rowing” and look what I got:
Notice I get the schedule and individual events links I can click on – this is genius! I can watch the events online and visit the official website for each sport. I. Love. This.
And this is my favorite website for checking medal counts:
The social media buttons are easily clicked on at the top of the page. There’s easy tabbing a little further down to get you to the schedule, results, news, photos and more.
NBC, let this be a lesson to you, umkaay?
After the Olympics, why not schedule an SEO training and certification course with Search Engine Academy? We teach you the most up to date SEO processes and techniques to get your web pages higher rankings in the search engines. Check out the schedule and locations that are convenient for you.
Until next time, keep it between the ditches and cheer for your favorite teams!
All the very best to you,
