Internet Marketing For Profit – How You Can Create A Successful EBook

Internet Marketing For Profit – How You Can Create A Successful EBook
By John Alexander

Taking a little break from the topic of SEO Training, I was thinking back to 9 years ago when a friend of mine, Michael Campbell, encouraged me to write my first e-book. Never having written one before, I guess I thought to myself, but who would want to read my e-book?

I had just shown Michael some recent keyword research and that’s how it all got started. I took his advice and he provided me with some great insights on everything from how it needed to be written, the language and even the graphics and pricing. My first e-book was created in 2003 and I called it “Wordtracker Magic.”

Basically, it contained my personal methodology of using the tool called Wordtracker, to research user search behavior. How to save literally hundreds of hours of time and quickly tap into pure gold. Last year, I finally took the book off the market, since Wordtracker had changed their metrics.

Let’s talk about how you can create a successful e-book of your own.

Your e-book deserves to be seen by everyone in your niche, but unless you have an effective internet marketing strategy no one will ever know about it. The difference between your e-book being great and being successful is your ability to get it in front of the people. Once you have the e-book completed and to your high expectations the battle is only half over.

The rest of your work now is finding how to market it online.

The most important thing that you can do is make sure that your e-book is the best that it can be. Make sure that your ideas are crisp and clear, that it is error free grammatically and everything is spelled correctly.
Also ensure that all illustrations help emphasize the points you are making, and that it is pleasing to the eye.

It is easy for bad illustrations to become a distraction, so make sure they are done well. If you need to, get people to review and critique it for you and you take their advice seriously. The better your product is, the more
excitement will be created around it.

Between 2003 and 2005 that little e-book called “Wordtracker Magic” had earned over $50,000.00 and it sold for just $29.95.

Around the year 2005, I decided to re-write my original book and I added more examples and more methods for instantly finding the hottest phrases in Wordtracker’s keyword tool.  I renamed it “Keyword Forensics 2.0 for SEO” and nearly everyone that had bought the first version, came back to get the second version and it continued to make money every day, whether I was in the office or whether I was away teaching an SEO Workshop somewhere.

A couple of important points here:

1. Wordtracker, the tool had very few instructions back in 2003 and in speaking with others, I had learned that many people were spending hours just trying to find good keywords. I learned that not too many people used my methodology to quickly find search behavior.

When you write your e-book, it needs to be an eye opener. If it is instructional, then whatever strategy you are writing about must really help the reader in some useful way.

Ask yourself:

  • Will your book help save people time?
  • Will it help them make money?
  • Will it help them improve results somehow?
  • Will it help improve their performance in some way?
  • Will it somehow fill in a missing gap in a product?

Give it some thought, because this is crucial to building the readers desire to read it. It must be something truly useful. Strive for excellence and people will strive to get what you offer them.

2. Make sure your sales letter is well written and that it spells out all the benefits in the book. I was fortunate to have the very skilled help of Michael Campbell to watch over my shoulder. He actually helped write the original sales letter and that’s where I learned a lot about how people think when they are reading a Web page.

Once everything is published online, you can let your subscribers know that you have a new e-book. But also use word of mouth to spread the word about your e-book. It would be best to supply your customers with a form that they can recommend it to their friends and associates.

If it becomes hot enough, remember to put a “buy now” link right at the top of the sales letter so people can buy right away if they’re hearing good things.

Another marketing strategy that is going to be incredibly helpful is providing short articles full of good information to e-zines.

The internet is full of these type of sites and used by a wide range of people to seek out this kind of information. What this can accomplish is you make yourself known on a wider audience as an authority or expert on the subject you are dealing with. This will only help you, though, if you provide a link to your site or your e-book.

Don’t let them know everything that you know. Leave them with only part of the answers or snippets of information that you want them to know and that to get the rest of it they are going to have to pay for it. If you do this part right, they are going to buy.

A key strategy is to create a group of customers who will keep coming back and buying what you offer in the future. Offer free incentives for them to buy your e-books like an e-zine, newsletter, or even an e-book that you have written earlier or one that you have rights to.

The benefits of the e-zine or newsletter is that you are seen as a constantly good source of information and you stay on their radar. When you have your next e-book, you will have your first group of customers ready to go.

These ideas are only the tip of the iceberg but enough to get you going. If you have something excellent to offer people on the internet with your e-book, then have a marketing strategy that will bring it the attention it deserves.

If You Need Web Traffic – Internet Marketing Provides A Realm Of Endless Possibilites

The internet itself is a realm of endless possibility, anyone can go out and start up their
own web based business and be successful. Thousands upon thousands of people have
already done this, and there is nothing stopping you from experiencing that same success.

The only thing that can often stop you is, well, you.

The single greatest pitfall potential business owners face is they simply give up.  They do
not see any returns and think it does not work, so they lose hope and abandon it. But if
you stick it out, you can join the statistics of successful internet business owners.

But to do that you Need Web Traffic to easily to your site.

Learning how to drive traffic is the most important aspect of owning an online business.
The more traffic you get, the better odds you have of selling your product and making money.

It’s like they always say, even if you make the best business in the world, if nobody knows it
exists then you still will not make any money.

Internet Marketing provides a realm with no limits

There are some methods you can use to get people to visit your website that I
will share with you.

1. Take time to learn SEO first, not later.

2: If you don’t want to use SEO then you can pay for ads. But this method requires
money, and so if you are working under a tight budget this may not be an option.
But if you can afford it, then purchasing ads with search engines like Google or
Yahoo! are a great ways to increase awareness of your site’s existence.
Sometimes you have to spend money to make money, after all.

3: Strategically disperse links. If you Need Web Traffic, then back linking is something
you are going to have to do, and likely will have to do a lot. Back linking is where
you have another website carry a link to your site. More often than not this is done
by submitting to search directories that will carry your link. Another good way is by
Blogging. But whatever you do, be sure to find topic specific pages that fit with
your type of business.

3: Viral marketing. I am sure you have heard of this before, viral marketing is where you
get other people to market for you in a natural way. For example, if you have a youtube
video that involves your business and it gets a ton of hits because it is popular, that
is all marketing for your website. It can be difficult to pull off, but when it works
you will have very noticeable results and there is no telling how great an impact it
will have.

4: The importance of Keywords. Like back linking, keywords are of prime importance for
internet marketing. Keywords are the words or phrases people type into google to find
what they are looking for. You want to make sure your website is using keywords properly
so that the search engines can find your website and put it into the results when people
search for that specific keyword. If you are found for a topic that is unrelated to your
audience’s needs, you won’t see any organic traffic. Performing good Keyword research
must not be neglected.

If you Need Web Traffic then following these tips can help you get it. These are by no means
all there is when it comes to internet marketing and there are a lot of finer points you can
learn and master in order to maximize your search visibility as well as your profits.

But once you get the hang of it and get your business going, it is an easy and secure source
of income.

If you need to speed up the learning process, one of the easiest and fastest ways to grow
very competent in your skills, is to “learn by doing.” You can attend attend a hands-on
Workshop where you bring your laptop and actually work one-on-one with a certified
Master Instructor. You’ll get a very thorough training with great attention to detail. And
if  you attend any one of Search Engine Academy schools, you’ll also get a free 6 month

How Google Authorship Helps You Achieve Your SEO Goals #SEO News

Howdy ho, my SEO friends! Have you heard of Google Authorship? No? Well, sit down and follow along with Search Engine Academy and learn how to harness this powerful SEO process that’s under-utilized and poorly understood. This is so cool and powerful, it’s now part of our SEO training!

Google Authorship is fairly new. It’s been around for about a year plus now, but it’s been slow to catch on. For my clients and attendees who have tried everything but still are not ranking as well as they could be, I tell them to make Google Authorship a priority. And if their competition isn’t doing it, this gives them an edge.

What is Google Authorship?

What is this Google Authorship thing anyways?

Well, it’s the process of creating a byline, linking this byline and your content to your Google Plus page, verifying the whole mess, then you start creating and publishing optimized content to rank well in search engine results pages (SERPs).

Why do this? For one thing, if you’re cranking out great content on a regular basis, why the hell don’t you establish yourself as an authority on your subject matter while you’re at it? This is what Google Authorship can do for you, SEO peeps. Your byline and photo shows up in SERPs. It’s pretty impressive!

If a searcher keeps coming back search results that have author-tagged content, Google will start putting more of the writer’s articles in the SERPs. What a great way to get your past articles and posts visibility, eh? Not only that, but if you’ve survived Google Panda, Google Penguin and zombies (kidding on this last one!), this will reward you even more.

Who Should Incorporate Google Authorship?

Anyone who blogs regularly, is an online news reporter, or creates new content pages ON A REGULAR BASIS should add this to their website. If you are allowed to create a byline and you write diligently, you are a prime candidate for Google Authorship.

OK, so how do you get started? First, if you haven’t already, create a Google Plus page. Log in with your Google account, or create one, if you haven’t already. Create your page and make it a nice one – optimize with a keyword phrase you want to rank for. Your tagline and introduction are the best places to do this.

Select a decent picture of yourself as your profile photo. For “Profile discovery,” be sure you make your profile visible in search – in other words, public.

In “Other profiles,” link to all of the places you create content to, as well as in the “Contributor to” section. You also have a “Links” section, so be sure to add some high quality stuff there as well.

Once you create your profile, you’ll need to take note of the unique profile number assigned to you. At the top, click on “View As” and select Public. Now, look at the URL up in the browser bar. You’ll see a hideously long number. Copy this URL and keep it handy, because this is what you use to establish your Google Authorship, umkay?

Now, Google being Google, you need to have a verified digital identity. Don’t panic – this is going to be your Google Plus profile page.

There are three ways you can get Google’s verified trust:

  • 3-Link Method
  • 2-Link Method
  • Email Verification Method

I now direct your attention to a awesomely intelligent Google Authorship expert named Rick DeJarnette. And I am going to ask you to go to his guide on Google Authorship because there is no sense in me trying to repeat what he says. I mean, it’s done well. I used it.

In that same article, Rick also shows you some additional WordPress configuration bits you may need to do. But not to worry, he’s spelled it out for you plain and simple.

Now that you know a little bit about Google Authorship, and you understand the benefits, why not get started and establish yours? If you’re writing new content all the time, why not get an extra boost in the SERPs for it?

Until next time, keep it between the ditches, my friends!

Why Is Content Marketing Important for Business? SEO Isn’t Everything After All

Even though we teach it, SEO isn’t everything for online marketing. I was reading an article in Inc. Magazine today, and the CEO of Fab.com, Jason Goldberg’s business goal is as follows, “If we make people smile, lots and lots of money will follow over time.” He recently told his employees that he didn’t care what the exact sales numbers were. Instead, “I care about the brand we’re building and the emotional bond we have with our customers.”

So many of us who do any type of online marketing, spend a lot of misguided time worrying about the “best” magic keyword phrase to put in our title tag, or finding the latest hot SEO technique to bring the masses in droves to our website.

I’m a huge fan of David Meerman Scott’s book, “The New Rules of Marketing and PR“. When you read his book, now in its third edition, you’ll quickly learn that title tags and trying to reverse engineer the Google Panda rules is completely pointless and a wasted effort.

Instead, if we focus on what Goldberg says is his business goal – to deliver what the customer wants and give them a smile in the process – people (our customers) will come to us without having to worry about “doing” SEO.

In reality, isn’t that what Google attempts to deliver to us? The programmers at Google spend a lot of effort (think Panda and Penguin here) to cut out the websites that have artificially inflated rankings, and instead deliver results that have true value to us.

Content Marketing Wins Every Time

So what exactly is content marketing, and what does that have to do with SEO and keyword research?

Just over three years ago, I had a student, Larry Waight, fly up from Belize in Central America and take my SEO workshop in California. He is the Marketing Manager for a Belize eco-resort called Chaa Creek. He had a little web experience, but not really much technical experience. The lesson he learned in the class (among many) is that he has to deliver what people are looking for when they’re searching the internet. By doing the keyword research first, finding out what his customers want, then delivering the content, is so much more powerful.

Larry went back to Belize with a copy of Scott’s book in hand, and spent the last three years building lots of content on his website that his potential customers want to learn about traveling in Belize. In his content, he’s talking about the area and all the wonderful attractions Belize has to offer, not just his resort. He understands that everyone wins if people are coming to Belize to spend money.

Recently, Larry was lucky enough to host David Meerman Scott in a marketing summit in Belize, and when Mr. Scott interviewed him (see video here), Larry said that a whopping 80% of their tourist business comes from the web, because they are delivering the content their customers want to consume. He gets the value to his company and the region, and has essentially stopped all “traditional” advertising efforts because it works so well.

Another company that I’ve worked with, Selling Timeshares, is a vacation timeshare resale business. I had seven of their employees in a private corporate SEO training class, and they’ve spent the last nine months building lots and lots of articles on their website. These articles are designed to draw their ideal customers to their site by giving them real value and information. Their SEO rankings and traffic have steadily increased month over month the more they have put effort into this.

Benefits of Content Marketing

Aside from all that I mention above, content marketing has so many benefits too:

  • The website will be found for many more keyword phrases than you optimize it for
  • It will attract many more natural links to the site, than trying to artificially “build” links
  • Customers will continue to refer to your website as a reference. This builds trust with them and when they are ready to buy, they will remember you

Guess what? We at the Search Engine Academy believe this philosophy to the core too. That’s why we have such an active blog with so many contributors.

Yes, we eat our own dog food too.

Easy Article Writing Tips – How To Write Higher Quality Articles and Apply SEO Influences Too

Many online marketers really miss out on a great opportunity,
when they don’t know how to write a good seo article or a blog
post. They spend a lot of time churning out great articles but
often, don’t get as much from them as they could.
You’ve likely heard is a lot of debate about what is better:
writing for the search engines (making your articles search
engine optimized) or writing for human readers.

In our SEO Training Workshops I’ve always taught , why not
do both and do it in two separate steps?

For years, I’ve noticed many SEOs tend to try and write content
and optimize at the same time, which often does not result in
the highest quality article. Taking it in 2 steps tends to allow
you to write a much more engaging article.

What to do with Your Articles:

You can use your articles to not only inform your readership
and provide them with valuable information, you can also get
the added benefit of using your articles to drive free search
engine traffic. increase the amount of free organic traffic
you drive to your website.

Of course you need to make sure that you don’t skew too far
into the seo realm so that your articles are stuffed with
keywords and are virtually unreadable for your readers.

Step 1. Write engaging, useful content for your reader

In order to get the best of both worlds your first step will
be to start writing a list of points that you want to establish
in your article. Once you have an idea of what topics you want
to write about and a list of points you want to make, then
proceed to write your article for humans, not search engines.

As you craft your article so that it reads well and delivers
useful, helpful and engaging information, then you may want
to close it with a short summary. Take a couple of days to
let your article sit. It’s amazing how sometimes you’ll come
up with unique angles or additional observations, if you let
something sit for 24 to 48 hours. Once you are done and you
feel you have written something that readers will appreciate,
then it is time for step 2.

Step 2. Now do a mild rewrite for SEO purposes:

In step two, you’ll do a mild re-write for the search engines.
First identify those keywords that drive a lot of visitors and
don’t have exceptionally high competition.

Make sure you consider keywords that are related to your niche
but may not be the most popular searched for keyword. Try to
get creative and don’t hesitate to use the free keyword tools
online to expand your list even further.

Now that you’ve got your keyword list, it’s time to start doing
that step 2, or a mild rewrite. You don’t have to stuff the
article with keywords to get a great benefit. As a matter of
fact, if you put in too many keywords it can actually nulify
the effect of the articles main focus. Your article must read
naturally.

Stress Free Zone

Basic SEO on-page:

The first place to put your keyword is in the title of your
article. That is the first thing the search engines will see.
After the title you will want to include your keyword phrase a
few times in the article body.

How many times is enough?

Well that depends on the length of your article but a good rule of
thumb is to include it in the first paragraph, the last paragraph
and once or twice more.

While there is some debate on the best article length, you
should have at least enough words for a good 45 second to
90 seconds read. I personally wouldn’t go much higher than
500 words, unless the subject you are writing about, needs
it. That is a good range because it provides a lot of

information without becoming too long or boring to read.
If you are writing articles to drive traffic to your website

as well as provide your readers with good information, then
remember it is a numbers game. The more quality, and well
written your article is, (ideally one keyword phrase per
page) with good focus on the researched phrase will bring
you good results. If you optimize every article you write,
keyword focused articles will you get a boatload more
traffic over time.

Many of these keyword optimized articles can continue to
drive traffic for months or even years to come. That’s a
big bang for your time and well worth it.

In Summary:

You don’t have to choose between writing an article for your
readers and writing for the search engines, you can do both
with one article. Use your keywords properly and you can get
both benefits from just one seo article.

However, if you write in two steps, 1) high quality  for the
reader first and

2) a mild re-write for SEO second, you’ll be creating far
higher quality articles than others do.

The reason why is because many SEOs tend to write content and
optimize at the same time. But by taking it in two steps, you are
focused first on creating

high quality, useful content that merits value. Then in a second
step, you do the optimization in a mild rewrite for the sake of
visibility.

Finally, remember that we are not talking about “article marketing.”
That’s not the focus any more. But the Web will always need quality
content through article writing, so give these tips a try and see
how you do. Good luck!

How to SEO Your Business Blog…Continued

How to SEO Your Business Blog” was the topic of our Webinar Wednesday just about a month ago (May 9, 2012 to be exact).  Thomas Petty and Nancy Wigal of the Search Engine Academy interviewed Tom Williams, Founder of Innogage, an SEO-centric, collaborative blogging platform.  That webinar was a great discussion of ideas around the value of a business blog, generating blog content, the power of cross-linking, some of the challenges teams face when they work on a shared blog, and how Innoblogs, a powerful Innogage tool, could help in that type of environment.

Illustration representing blogging conceptsOur upcoming Webinar Wednesday builds on that start and will examine some down-and-dirty specifics of what you need to do to get the most SEO juice out of your own blog.  Innoblogs, which we use heavily at the Search Engine Academy, is terrific for automating the process and providing consistent quality control, particularly for teams.  However you may be in a small business situation where you’re maintaining a blog largely on your own, and don’t have access to high-powered tools such as Innoblogs.  In that case this webinar will be perfect for you, because it will focus on what you need to do even if you are not using an automated tool to ease the process.

Basic Blogging SEO

Some of the factors that are crucial in this process (and which we’ll cover in greater detail in the webinar), are

  • Taking your audience into account before you write your blog post
  • Making sure you are keyword aware both in determining the subjects you write about, as well as how you write about those subjects
  • Writing according to your particular area of expertise, and what to do if you are NOT the expert on the topic
  • Attention to details like title tag, Meta description tag, headlines, keyword prominence, internal and external linking, and more
Join SEO Master Instructor Ross Barefoot for a quick, action-oriented – and Free – webinar that will help you get the most out of your business blog.  Sign up today.  The Webinar will be held live this coming Wednesday, June 13th at 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time, 10:30 a.m. Pacific Time.  And if you’re reading this post after the fact, the recorded version of the webinar should be available from our Webinar Wednesday page.

Collaborative Blogging Software Platforms – Why They’re Great for SEO

Here at the Search Engine Academy, we teach people how use proper techniques to search engine optimize their content and get listed on the search engines like Google. None of this is theoretical, it’s what we use in our own work too. Many of us who are instructors also have SEO and web consulting businesses, so we have to “eat our own dogfood” as it were.

Last year, we started using a collaborative bloogging platform from a company called Innogage. Tom Williams is the founder of Innogage, and his philosophy around SEO and blogging meshed so well with what we teach in our classes, that we decided to use his tool for our own work.

What Is Collaborative Blogging?

First of all, though, what is “collaborative blogging”? Many of us started using blogs as a way to post information about our industry or company, and typically it came from one person. This is great. However, it’s so easy to be enthused at the beginning, only to falter and lose steam after a period of time. You run out of ideas, out of time, or just “don’t get around to it”.

Instead, by having a collaborative blogging platform, you may have multiple people from the company or organization that are each providing content. Perhaps each person only posts once per month. That’s not such a big deal, right? So if you have ten people, each writing once per month, that’s approximately 2-1/2 posts per week. Great!

Each person will have a different take on things, a different idea or even different passions. Each of the contributors will start to develop their own followers and readers can subscribe the content that engages them the most.

SEO Your Blog Posts

The next step is to SEO the content for the search engines. How do you get lots of people to properly create well-optimized content without having to send everyone to training and become experts at SEO?

Enter the Innogage tool, called Innoblogs. They have built into their system (which is based on the WordPress platform – something familiar to many of us) a Search Engine Optimizer that automatically scores each post as the person is writing it. It’s on a scale of 0-100, and turns from red to yellow to green when it’s fully optimized. If the writer is stuck and doesn’t know what to do to raise the score, the system tells them exactly how they need to fix it.

Furthermore, the tool builds automated, targeted keyword links within the content that the writer doesn’t even think about. It just happens, helping the entire blog to function as a link building tool.

Today, along with my fellow Master SEO instructor from Washington DC, Nancy Wigal, we’re interviewing Tom Williams to find out more about how this all works. You can register for the free SEO webinar online or watch the recorded webinar after we get it posted on the Search Engine Academy website. I hope you’ll join us!

Let us know in the comments if you have ever collaborated on a blog system and how that worked for you.

Sue’s Favourite WordPress Plugins for Blogging

I love WordPress!  It’s not only a great blogging tool, but doubles as a fantastic platform for most of our web development projects.  Why?  Ease of learning and use for our clients puts WordPress at the top of our list for website platforms.  And with the huge community backing that WordPress has, great Plugins for nearly every process are on hand and easily adapted into any site.

In no particular order, here’s a handful of my favourite plugins…….

WP-DB Backup

Backup your core files.  Backups are essential and will save not only hours of frustration, but also considerable time (and money), should something catastrophic happen to your site.  How often should you backup your data?  I would ask how much data can you afford to lose?  One days, one weeks, one months……  If you can’t afford to lose a weeks worth of content, then run a backup twice weekly as a minimum.

WP-Optimize

Clean up your WordPress database and optimise it without having to use phpMyAdmin.  WP-Optimize will -

  • remove post revisions
  • remove auto draft posts
  • remove all comments that are in the spam queue
  • apply mysql optimize commands to your database tables
  • display database table stats

redirection pluginRedirection

A handy tool to track and fix your 404 errors.  Especially useful if you have migrated your site into WordPress.

Broken Link Checker

A great blogging tool to monitor and report broken links.  The plugin will detect broken links, missing images and redirects.

Gravity Forms

This one is a premium plugin, but with it’s ease of use, worth the cost.  Easily create forms within minutes, with zero coding skills required.  From simple contact forms to multi-page conditional logic forms, it’s easy with Gravity Forms.

WP Maintenance Mode

Every now and again, there are processes we do on our blogging sites that are best performed and confirmed without being under the watchful eyes of our loyal followers.  WP Maintenance Mode will let your visitors see a notification screen with countdown timer advising that your site is temporarily unavailable, whilst giving admins full access to the entire site.

Login Lock

Customisable security allows you to -

  • enforce password policies
  • block IP’s after selected number of failed logins
  • log out idle users

Wordpress SEO By YoastWordPress SEO by Yoast

My favourite SEO plugin.  Improve your content quality on the fly.  Plugin benefits include -

  • SEO focused content for improved search engine results
  • Page Analysis ensures you remember the “little things” like alt tags and meta descriptions, two important on-page factors
  • XML Sitemap function is styled for ease of human reading, at a glance you can confirm if any data should be removed
  • RSS Optimization will automatically create links back to your original content

Get To The Top of Google With Well-Written Titles and Descriptions

Why indeed…let’s talk about that a little bit today.

Descriptive, persuasive titles and descriptions start with – you guessed it – keyword research. Yep, that’s always going to be the case. Let’s assume you’ve done that and you’re ready to start optimizing a web page. Why not begin with the meta tags?  And keep in mind, compelling titles and descriptions also apply to blogging and optimized press releases, so don’t just limit your writing and optimizing skills to static web pages!

What’s most important for you to absorb is you’re writing them to get people to come to your website. It’s that simple. For the most part, the search engines use your web page/site title and description in their results. But first you have to figure out a great keyword phrase to use, that makes sense, AND accurately sets the theme of the page you’re optimizing.

So, for lack of a better term, it doesn’t hurt to get in the mindset of “come hither, my dear” when you’re writing these. I mean, think about yourself for a minute…

You do a  keyword search for your favorite running shoes that the local store doesn’t carry anymore, how dare them! Ugh! And you need those darn things NOW, because you have a big race in a month. So, you plug in a keyword term that makes sense to you, and…

You scan the results on page 1. About halfway down, you read something that grabs you by the throat and eyeballs. There it is – a site that has your very favorite running shoes, and shipping’s free! Whoo hoo!

See what I mean? Somebody wrote a rather compelling (to you, anyways) description and threw in something none of us can resist – free shipping!

Titles and descriptions are meant to encourage the web searcher to click to your site, to get valuable, useful information to solve the problem she has. If you can’t convince her in search engine listings, you’re not going to make money. It’s that simple.

And not only do you need to creatively write these things, but you also need to optimize them with the chosen keyword phrase for the page. And… much like Twitter, there are character counts and limits for what search engines will show in the snippet. So every word has to count, you need to grab her attention, and most importantly, when she lands on your page, you need to convince her with the very first words and verbs that she should stay for awhile on your site, browse your pages, and heed your call to action!

It’s a tall order, but it can be done. So brainstorm, think big and really write good titles and descriptions that convince your reader to visit your site, not your competitions. By the way, Search Engine Academy can show you how to write butt-kicking, compelling, descriptive and very accurate titles and descriptions, so let us know when you’re ready to learn!
